Perhaps you're doing a job you hate, or your confidence has taken a knock or you suffer from imposter syndrome which is getting in the way of taking your next career move. Perhaps you've trained for a career that you now feel unable to leave, you've been in a job so long that you've forgotten what dreams you once had or you're returning to work after starting a family. You might love your job but dislike the management around you or maybe you just can't find a job you enjoy enough or there are various factors that are making it impossible to enjoy your current role. Regardless of the reason you're probably starting to realise that your confidence is low and all of these factors combined risk affecting your mental health (if they haven't already).
I can relate.
In 2019, I was trapped. I felt stuck in the multi-million pound agency that I'd built in the 8 years prior. Arguably at the top of my game, winning clients and awards, I had no idea how to get 'unstuck', how to build the resilience and skills I'd need to walk away and start again without a plan or vision of my future and nor did I know how to do it whilst also protecting my mental health, being a mum, still being the bread-winner in our family and wanting to continue my career in a big and life defining way.
But I did!
This is Dogs and Coffee Network and I'm going to share with you how I found the tools to create change and how I overcame my fears of self doubt to build an unstoppable outlook upon my career and life...and yes in part I needed more dogs and more coffee but that's only the tip of the ice-burg.
Hi, I'm Dawn. I love dogs and coffee so much so that they are my focus for the first hour of each day. As I sit quietly in the kitchen, my family sleep, my two dogs and a giant coffee are the two things, that when combined go towards making me feel unstoppable or at least like I can face the day of challenges and opportunities ahead of me with the right mindset. But this wasnt always the case...
In the years that I was building and running my business I was described as ‘a business powerhouse; a go-getter with the drive and ambition to make things happen’, mostly I loved what I did. I worked in the heart of live entertainment marketing shows, events and live experiences around the world, building the best team and trying to live my best life. But it was hard and growing the business to turn over millions, whilst also being married and with a young child also meant forgetting my own career development or indeed any sense of 'me'. The business I had built in order to financially free me ended up trapping me, making me feel stuck and I had to create a change.
Dogs & Coffee Network is a direct response to my personal experience. I know exactly what it feels like to be stuck in your career, to feel as though you've lost direction, that you're not sure exactly what you'd like to do but you know it's not 'this', that you have a list of ideas that you'd like to go-after and have no idea how, that you feel unmotivated to start on the job applications and even more unmotivated to stay (and lets not get started on the isolation and lack of motivation involved with sooooo much work from home!). Finding a new job takes time and energy all of which is hard to grasp at the best of times. Perhaps like me you spend most of your day thinking and caring for others so how the heck are you meant to find the time for your own career?!
I get it.
But now is your time. You may be in your 30's, 40's or 50's and that means you have anywhere between 15 to 35 years of working life ahead of you...say what?! Petrifying isn't it?!
How do you want to spend this time? Feeling unmotivated, lacking confidence, focusing solely on others (wiping their snot), letting others rule your time and thoughts, allowing people with less ability and experience get ahead of you, never chasing the ideas you have, the job you want or get into the industry you want?
Or
By joining me on this journey? Acknowledging that you're stuck, taking power from this and best of all working with me to learn how to become achieve your career goals (and in truth life itself!).
